In this role you will work on research focussed on improving our understanding of tree composition and management effects on biodiversity (and associated ecosystem services/disservices) in forestry and agroforestry settings.

In the role as Social Scientist you will use your skills in evaluation to undertake and support the group’s research across a portfolio of projects.

The successful applicant will work as part of a small team of Forest Research Workers based at Alice Holt carrying out a wide range of environmental, plant health and crop surveys; lay out, maintain and assess field experiments; help with nursery work; and assist with managing contractors and auditing their work.

In this role you will lead on developing a strategic vision for epidemiology within the Tree Health group, delivering high-impact research that addresses current and emerging threats.

As GIS Support Officer you will support an increasing customer base and development scope within the Forestry Commission and external forestry customers. You will be working with the latest GIS technologies and data, presenting an excellent opportunity to utilise existing as well as develop new skills.
